| GRANDE TERRE GIANTS |
Grande Terre Giants (Rhacodactylus l. leachianus)These are the largest extant gecko. We offer type A giant geckos, a group (subspecies?) that includes the various dark morphs and the Yate light morph. The rumor that dark morphs (the forms often sold with the annoying CF designation) from Mt. Koghis are the largest Type A is a myth. Maximum size is just over 10 inches and around 400 grams for all type A. The largest giant geckos are Type C, which have bold high contrast white blotches and can reach 13 inches SVL. Few of these are in captivity. For extensive information on Grande Terre giant geckos read: Rhacodactylus: A Complete Guide to their Selection and Care by de Vosjoli, Fast, and Repashy. To order, go to Books. Relatively few Grande Terre giant geckos have been collected. Babies are always at a premium and are the most expensive of the Rhacodactylus after R. trachyrhynchus. Generation time for this species is 3-5 years. Because of high demand and the fact and current selective breeding projects, we will only have a few babies of type A for sale at the end of 2004. When available, unsexed babies and males are 650.00. Young females are 750.00. |
